ELLWOOD CITY BOROUGH
Ellwood City is a borough in Beaver and Lawrence County that is about 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh and 8 miles south/southeast of New Castle and nestled in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains. The borough is named after one of the inventors of barbed wire – Isaac Ellwood. During the 20th century, the borough was known for it’s steel production.
With a current census count of 7,500 people, the total area of the borough is 2.4 square miles. Three outstanding school districts comprise the area….Ellwood Area, Riverside Beaver County area and Lincoln High School.
Ellwood City amenities include a swimming pool, Farmer’s market, two parks ( Ewing and Stiefel), Ellwood City Hospital, library, yearly festivals and Old Stonewall Golf Course which is a 18 hole 5 star course.
The borough is home to a community of active and talented residents. Each year these talents and interests are displayed and fulfilled during many beloved events. The Farmers market is held every Saturday morning at 8am June thru October and located in the Beaver Avenue Municipal parking lot. “Christmas in the Park” is held annually in the Ellwood City Ewing Park. One of the town’s most popular events is the Arts, Crafts and Food Festival held annually on the 4th of July weekend.
